What is a shoulder?

The shoulder is made up of three bones, which are joined together with the help of ball and socket joint. These bones include

Humerus bone or long arm bone

Clavicle or collarbone

Scapula or shoulder blade

A layer of cartilage cushions these bones. There are two joints in the shoulder, which is acromioclavicular joint and glenohumeral joint. The acromioclavicular joint is present at the highest part of clavicle and scapula while the glenohumeral joint is present in between the scapula and the humerus bone. Another thing present in the shoulder is the rotator cuff, which consists of four tendons. These tendons are used to connect bones and muscles.
