Mobile plants are witness to many workplace accidents. These accidents can range from minor to fatal. Mobile plants are dangerous to work on because of its mobility. Extra care needs to be taken in ensuring that the operator is efficiently skilled to handle the plant. Work Health and Safety Regulation passed in 2011 by the Australian government require you to get a mobile plant risk assessment before you let any worker climb up the plant and start working. There are several benefits of having a mobile plant risk assessment before starting to use a mobile plant apart from getting workplace safety. These benefits are lesser known to most people as risk assessment is not given due significance. The benefits are:

  • Equipment:
    • Without any doubt, the equipment used for setting up the mobile plant is first examined and thoroughly inspected. The experts first inspect the suitability of the plant type with the tasks to be performed. The mobile plants risk assessment experts first look for design faults or manufacturing faults and rectify those if any are spotted. After that, the terrain is inspected to ensure that it is not weak enough to succumb to more weight and ensure that environmental factors do not hamper the project work. They all should have enough experience knowledge about the plant operation and maintenance. Many on-site accidents occur either an inexperienced operator or a person assessing machinery that he or she is unauthorized to access.
