Things people fail to consider while choosing a concrete supplier

by - January 17, 2018

The project of concreting is a hefty task to take on. With so many benefits that concrete has to offer, you may choose concrete over using other materials. So, when you need to cast your RCC fixtures with concrete, make a driveway, a concrete fence, or any such work that involves a concreting job, you need to be sure to not just jump in and start working. Generally, people hire concrete contractors to do this job. To get the job perfectly done from the start till the end, it is necessary that you go through it step-by-step.

Let me first jot down all the needed steps for you:

Concrete
  1. Determine the type of concrete project
  2. Do your research about it
  3. Hire a concrete contractor and ask him or her to improvise on your ideas.
  4. Look for a quality concrete supplier.
  5. Ask for an estimate from the contractor
  6. Finalise the deal only after ensuring that the contractor offers to complete the entire project without any pauses
These 6 steps will get your project started and as it is said, “what all’s well, ends well,” when you follow these steps to completion, you are sure to get a satisfying concrete work. But there is a catch here. Choosing a concrete supplier is not as simple as it sounds. Some people, out of sheer confusion, lay the responsibility of choosing a concrete supplier upon the concrete contractor. But this is not advisable. You should pick your own concrete supplier. So, just to make sure that you do not have to go through a lot of trouble to look for a suitable supplier, I have made it easy for you.

All you need to do is keep in mind these factors while choosing one:

Concrete
  • The reputation: The reputation obviously holds the top priority while choosing a concrete supplier. Concrete walls and structures can cause heavy damage if they collapse. The key to prevent structures from collapsing lies in the quality of the concrete. The quality is directly determined by the reputation of the supplier. Listen to the work around the street about the concrete supplier and also look up online reviews. Also, ask previous customers if the supplier is capable of delivering the required concrete batch at the decided time. You do not want the concrete contractor waiting around because the supplier is not on time.
  • The distance from your project site: Whether it is a project for your office building or your home, you will need the concrete supplier to deliver concrete to your place. Also, it is suggested that concrete should be discharged within 2 hours of being batched. So, it is advisable to look for a supplier who can deliver concrete to the required location within a short time span to maintain the quality.
  • Trucks and their sizes: Concrete is delivered in trucks. But what most people fail to consider is that the size of trucks matters in several projects. For example, if you have a high demand of concrete and the trucks available with the supplier are too small or are too less in number, it would take several trips to deliver the needed amount which would waste the time of the whole crew working on your project. Also, if your project site located has a narrow roadside and the truck is too big for it, there will be a lot of hassle to reach the truck from the project site. The size of the trucks sometimes matters a lot in dictating the casting time. So, before finalising a concrete supplier, make sure you have a look at the trucks at their disposal.
Due consideration of these 3 factors diligently will help you choose a good concrete supplier.
